He is Risen!

The Resurrection

Luke 24:1-12 (ESV)

"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.

Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles, but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened."

Easter Brunch Recipes

Our church has a breakfast between sunrise service and regular service.  For the last few years the coordinator of the breakfast has asked our oldest, Noah, to make his delicious french toast.

This year she asked him to make more since it was so popular last year they ran out!  I've posted the french toast recipe before and I recently edited it so look below for the link!

I thought I'd take this moment to share with you some yummy Easter breakfast/brunch ideas!

(Go visit this site!  It's so country!  I love it!!)

Old House Baked Eggs are an easy dish to prep the night before.  You can just pop it in the oven in the morning and you're ready to go.

Bananaberry Muffins can be baked the day before!  Pop them in the oven to warm up if you'd like that fresh-from-the-oven warmth!

Old House Breakfast Cups can be prepped the night before and thrown together in the morning or you can bake them the day before and just simply reheat them.  Very yummy and filling!

Sausage Gravy and Biscuits I often make the gravy ahead of time and put it in a little crock pot to warm up so it's ready to go.  The biscuits can be mixed up and cut the night before and you can pop them in the oven before the meal.  (Or you can buy the whack on the counter type of biscuits from the store.  Hey, it's a special day and the cook deserves a break, right?)

Old House French Toast This is one item that has to be made fresh.  Sure, you can warm them up in the oven or toaster oven, but they are better fresh!

Of course serve your meal with milk, orange juice, and a side of fruit to round it out!

Enjoy!

Rolls with a Meaning!

Hey all!  This is a repost, but it is something that is so important to our family at Eastertime so I wanted to share it with ya'll again!

For the last 4 years now we've made Resurrection Rolls. The kiddos don't let me forget!  Even the big kids!  They're fun to make, have a wonderful message tied in to the creation of the rolls, and they are yummy to boot!

Resurrection Rolls

8 large marshmallows
1/4 cup melted butter
sugar/cinnamon mixture (approx. 2 T each)
1 10 ounce can of crescent rolls

1. Open can of crescent rolls and separate into triangles.
The rolls represent the linen cloth used in covering the dead.

My little Abby when she wasn't even 2 yet...she's almost 5 now!

2. Dip and roll one marshmallow (representing the body) into melted butter.
The butter represents the oils used in anointing the dead body.

My little kitchen helpers!

3. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Roll the marshmallow in the mixture.
The mixture represents the spices used in burials.

They can really cook and bake in the kitchen now!

4. Place the marshmallow in the center of the crescent triangle and carefully fold the dough around the marshmallow. (Pinch the edges tightly to seal in the marshmallow as it melts.) Put each crescent-wrapped marshmallow on a slightly greased cookie sheet or in a greased cupcake pan.

5. Bake the rolls in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
The oven represents the tomb.

Let them cool. When the kids bite into them, they will see that the inside is empty!
Just like the tomb was empty that wonderful morning!!

They look so little!  (The kids, I mean!)

HE IS RISEN INDEED!   HALLELUJAH!

Well howdy!

I know...MIA...again!  Sorry peeps! I've got a schedule planned out for this little 'ol bloggy so hopefully ya'll won't feel slighted again.  Forgive me?

Birthday time was upon us again this month.  Early in the month it was Lydia Grace who celebrated her 9th birthday.  (I'm feelin' really old lately! LOL!)

I know her hair is in her eyes...she's growing her bangs out and they fell out from behind her head band. :)

Everyone also had dental checkups, eye checkups, and then a few had to visit the orthodontist.  We three in retainers to fix overbites (thankfully only one will need braces!) and another one gets his retainer (again, for an overbite) in a few weeks!  That keeps us hopping!

This next week is our spring break so we'll be glad to have Nathan (hubby) home with us!  We have a lot of plans, though!  We have a basement to clean up!  It's the storage spot for decorations, extra food, our two freezers and extra fridge live down there, hubby has a look work room in their, and that's where I lay out my goat milk soap to cure so drying racks are always sprawled about!  Anywho..it's a mess!

Pixie when she was a wee babe.  Now she'll be a mama soon!  *sniff, sniff*

We also have to work on the goat barn and pen.  It needs some expanding since our herd will be expanding! We have two Nubian dairy goats (Skippy and Pixie) who are due in a few weeks!  We're hoping for some adorable little doelings!

Next week I'll be an Early Bird Reviewer for Gooseberry Patch's Game Day Fan Fare cookbook in which a recipe of yours truly appears! I also have a copy to give away to one blessed reader!  I'll be sharing some yummy recipes from the book, too!

Tomorrow I'll share a recipe that you'll love to create with your kiddos for Easter!
