Rolls with a Meaning!

Hey all!  This is a repost, but it is something that is so important to our family at Eastertime so I wanted to share it with ya'll again!

For the last 4 years now we've made Resurrection Rolls. The kiddos don't let me forget!  Even the big kids!  They're fun to make, have a wonderful message tied in to the creation of the rolls, and they are yummy to boot!

Resurrection Rolls

8 large marshmallows
1/4 cup melted butter
sugar/cinnamon mixture (approx. 2 T each)
1 10 ounce can of crescent rolls

1. Open can of crescent rolls and separate into triangles.
The rolls represent the linen cloth used in covering the dead.

My little Abby when she wasn't even 2 yet...she's almost 5 now!

2. Dip and roll one marshmallow (representing the body) into melted butter.
The butter represents the oils used in anointing the dead body.

My little kitchen helpers!

3. In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Roll the marshmallow in the mixture.
The mixture represents the spices used in burials.

They can really cook and bake in the kitchen now!

4. Place the marshmallow in the center of the crescent triangle and carefully fold the dough around the marshmallow. (Pinch the edges tightly to seal in the marshmallow as it melts.) Put each crescent-wrapped marshmallow on a slightly greased cookie sheet or in a greased cupcake pan.

5. Bake the rolls in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
The oven represents the tomb.

Let them cool. When the kids bite into them, they will see that the inside is empty!
Just like the tomb was empty that wonderful morning!!

They look so little!  (The kids, I mean!)

HE IS RISEN INDEED!   HALLELUJAH!

Well howdy!

I know...MIA...again!  Sorry peeps! I've got a schedule planned out for this little 'ol bloggy so hopefully ya'll won't feel slighted again.  Forgive me?

Birthday time was upon us again this month.  Early in the month it was Lydia Grace who celebrated her 9th birthday.  (I'm feelin' really old lately! LOL!)

I know her hair is in her eyes...she's growing her bangs out and they fell out from behind her head band. :)

Everyone also had dental checkups, eye checkups, and then a few had to visit the orthodontist.  We three in retainers to fix overbites (thankfully only one will need braces!) and another one gets his retainer (again, for an overbite) in a few weeks!  That keeps us hopping!

This next week is our spring break so we'll be glad to have Nathan (hubby) home with us!  We have a lot of plans, though!  We have a basement to clean up!  It's the storage spot for decorations, extra food, our two freezers and extra fridge live down there, hubby has a look work room in their, and that's where I lay out my goat milk soap to cure so drying racks are always sprawled about!  Anywho..it's a mess!

Pixie when she was a wee babe.  Now she'll be a mama soon!  *sniff, sniff*

We also have to work on the goat barn and pen.  It needs some expanding since our herd will be expanding! We have two Nubian dairy goats (Skippy and Pixie) who are due in a few weeks!  We're hoping for some adorable little doelings!

Next week I'll be an Early Bird Reviewer for Gooseberry Patch's Game Day Fan Fare cookbook in which a recipe of yours truly appears! I also have a copy to give away to one blessed reader!  I'll be sharing some yummy recipes from the book, too!

Tomorrow I'll share a recipe that you'll love to create with your kiddos for Easter!

Essential Oils

Hey all!

Well February was busy!

We had a birthday party for one of my little guys, Eli.  He turned 7!  Man, time flies!

I had a ton of signs to make to get out in time for Valentine's Day from the shop!

I also have some new signs that I'll be listing in the shop soon!  Here's a little sneaky peak of one of them...

I also signed up as an affiliate for Mountain Rose Herbs.  I have been dabbling a bit in essential oils for our family's health and finding something that was fairly inexpensive, organic, and not cheaply made was something hard to find.  I stumbled upon Mountain Rose Herbs and I'm excited!  They're not only essential oils, though.  They're herbs, spices, teas and supplies for soap and lotions!  A one stop shop for me!  Woo hoo!  If you are interested in supporting our family business stop by Mountain Rose Herbs through my affiliate link on the right hand side bar.  Please and thank you!

Bulk organic herbs, spices and essential oils. Sin

Just a few simple ways we use oils...
A drop or two of tea tree oil in each washer load as a natural disinfectant.  A few drops of lavender oil in the vinegar for a fabric softener.  A drop of peppermint oil rubbed onto the temples to help ease a headache. Lemongrass is great rubbed with a carrier oil like olive oil for aches and pains.  There is so much more that I can't go into today, but I just wanted to share with you the main ways we use them.

I have quite a few recipes to share. Some more are Pinterest wins, too!    I'll try to be back in the next few days to share one with you!

This -n- That

Hey all!  This post is a little mish mash of goodies...

First!  Happy Groundhog Day!  I guess good 'ol Puxsutawny Phil didn't see his shadow so it means an early spring.  Hmm..we'll see.

Valentine's Day is coming soon!  If you'd like to hop on over to the shop HERE and order something for your sweetie (or for yourself!).  Please make sure you get your order in by Monday (Feb. 4th) so I can be sure to get it out to you in time for gift giving!  Here's a sampling of what you might like...

New to the shop is a paint sampler of all colors currently available!

Of course, as always, if you have something else in mind contact me and I'll see what I can do!

This weekend is the Super Bowl so we'll be having some yummy munchies!  I'll be making a new recipe that I'll share with you this next week!  (And of course a yummy 30 minute dinner roll recipe that we make at least once a week! Deelish!)  We're rooting for the Ravens!! (Our oldest two were born in Maryland and our oldest is a die hard Ravens fan!)

Enjoy your weekend ya'll!
