Happy Blogoversary!

"You've come a long way, baby!" I think that used to be in a commercial, but I think it applies here very well. *wink* One year ago today I started a little blog for the sake of sharing my recipes with a few friends. My goal was to type them up so I had them all in one place on the computer. I never thought it would be that big of a deal. Wow!  Was I in for a surprise!

I have not only shared recipes with family and friends, but I've shared recipes with many new friends. Some that I chat with every day and I can't imagine not having them in my life cheering me on. Not only have I organized some of my recipes but I've shared them with you; hopefully making your kitchen enjoyable, one recipe at a time. By clicking on affiliate links you have added a bit of extra income to help our budget here and there. Thank you so much for clicking on those links and ordering where you feel led.

You've endured my shameless doting and pictures of our kiddos...

and crazy farm animals.

I've been featured on Gooseberry Patch's Featured Friday Blogger (read that HERE).  I was recently interviewed about our home, family, and Old House Kitchen for a story in our local newspaper.  That story has lead to a monthly column in our paper where I share a recipe and a little story or tip.

I've also been a contributor at Raising Homemakers (the latest post is HERE) and have met so many wonderful ladies.

I am so blessed at how far Old House Kitchen has come in the last 365 days.  OHK has over 100 followers and over 500 fans on Facebook.  I often receive e-mails, messages on Facebook and comments on posts regarding how much ya'll appreciate this little 'ol blog of mine. Speechless. Blessed. Thankful. Those are just a few words that describe how I feel about this blog and all of you.  You have all truly touched my heart and blessed me many times over.  Thank you all so much.

To show my appreciation I have a lot of fun things planned for this month. There will be several giveaways (some sponsored), fun recipes, some cute crafts, lots of new items over at Old House Mercantile, and an e-book that you are going to love! Exciting!!

To start off I'm giving away a copy of Queen of the Castle! We've been working our way through this book since last March (start HERE) and we're in the home stretch!

Contest starts NOW (Feb. 1) and
ends at 12:00 (midnight) (EST) Feb. 3.

UPDATE 2/5/11:  CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING!  WINNER IS "LANGELA"

To make things simple just comment with your favorite kitchen gadget and your name
(something distinctive like "Carmen with 7 kiddos from Northern Indiana").

(Of course I would be grateful if you shared this giveaway with a friend or even blogged about it!)

(Each entry receives an ordinal number.  A number is chosen by the number generator at Random.org.)

Happy Anniversary!!! I love following your blog and trying out the recipes, especially. My favorite kitchen gadget is a simple, low cost one. It is a bamboo looking "tweezer" that I can take toast out of the toaster with...without burning fingers. I'm excited to see what you have in store for the month. I'll continue to follow your blog...thanks.

Karla from FW! I simply couldn't live without my handy dandy food processor. I know it is more like a small appliance than a gadget, but what can I say? Pretty much everything from cheese to homemade laundry detergent goes into this workhorse!

I love my stick blender I use when I make my homemade soaps! Without it I'd be stirring each batch of soap for an hour plus to get it to the point where I can pour it into the mold. UGH! With my stick blender it takes all of TWO MINUTES! Best $20 I ever spent! (I've actually purchased two now. My first one burned out after three years of soaping.) ~Kelly in MN

Happy Blogeversary!! I'm Vicki from the classic car capital Indiana! My favorite kitchen gadget may sound odd, but my nylon spatula. It is all nylon and no heads to detach or heat to melt it. Guess I went too long with the cheap stuff that I would never go back again.
