Watermelon Slushies

I know I said I wouldn't have any new recipes to share any time this month, but this is so quick and easy and delicious that I just *had* to!  Ya'll will forgive me, right?  Isaac, our 9 year old, has a few activities in his 4-H food's workbook to complete before judging in a few weeks.  One of them is this little gem (along with learning a bit about Thailand -- they eat watermelon with their spicy dishes)!  Enjoy this easy, delicious, refreshing beverage!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

I found this website and thought I'd share the recipe...

Just Like Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte
Makes 1-2 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute – adjust to taste
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee (or 1/4 cup of espresso if you have an espresso machine)

Directions:
In a saucepan stir together milk, pumpkin and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and pumpkin pie spice, transfer to a blender and process for 15 seconds or until foamy. I don’t usually bother with the blender and just whip the mixture really well with a wire whisk.

Pour into a large mug or two mugs if you decide to share. Add the coffee or espresso on top.

Optional: (But don’t even think about skipping this step. I mean it). Top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon on top.

Spiced Chai

psst...I know this is supposed to be Kitchen Tip Tuesday but I wanted to share this recipe with you all soooo badly that you'll forgive me, right?

I love chai!  L.O.V.E. it!!  I drink at least a cup a day.  This recipe is super simple and very affordable!

I need to give my friend Jenny props here for sharing this awesome recipe with me!  Hi Jenny! Thank you!!
*me waving profusely*

Enjoy!

Spiced Chai

1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup French Vanilla non-dairy creamer
2-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 cups unsweetened instant tea granules
1 t. ground ginger
1 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 t. each: ground cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, allspice
1/8 t. white pepper

Duggar Recipes: Lemonappleade

Back to some yummy recipes in the Duggar book. Here is a yummy beverage that I can't wait to make!

Lemonappleade

2 small lemons, unpeeled and quartered
10-12 golden delicious apples, cored and cut into large pieces

Put the lemons through the juicer first, then the apples (juicing the lemons first helps keep the beverage from turning brown so fast). The yellower the apples, the prettier the lemonade. Pour over ice and enjoy! Serves 6.

I have to add that I've stumbled across several more yummy looking recipes on their website that I just might have to share with you soon!

Lemon Shake Ups

Once again, since fair season is upon us I thought I would share the recipe I use for Lemon Shake Ups...you know, that yummy, but overpriced lemony drink?

Lemon Shake Ups

2 lemons (cut in half)
1/2 cup sugar
crushed ice
water

Squeeze lemons in a large glass or cup, add sugar and crushed ice (how much is up to you). Place the squeezed lemon halves in and add water (your desired amount). Cover and shake, shake, shake! Remove the lemon halves and enjoy!

*Feel free to add more sugar, less lemon, etc. to get your desired taste.
*Try boiling the sugar and lemon to make a syrup which can be frozen (into ice cubes) and used when desired.
